This Just In...
47th Annual Conference |
Launch of public website! |
Message from the President
Michael W. Halloran, CLU®, ChFC®, AEP®, CFP®, REBC, RHU, LUTCF, MSFS, MSM
Northwestern Mutual
Dear Colleagues,
Our progress as an association this year has been remarkable! With the launch of so many new initiatives, it's hard to list just a
few within this letter!
With National Estate Planning Awareness is just around the corner, I
encourage you to get involved by promoting the event to your colleagues and
friends. It is estimated that over 100 million Americans do not have up-to-date
estate plans to protect themselves and their families in the event of sickness,
accident, or untimely death. Our goal is to touch every American annually with a
warm reminder regarding the need for estate planning by a qualified team of
advisors. All of our affiliated local councils will be asked to help spread the
word and I am delighted to announce that Charles Schwab has also committed to
informing all of their advisors about the upcoming event. See
additional information below.
Our exciting new website and crucial component of National Estate Planning
Awareness Week,
www.estateplanninganswers.org, has been launched with over 100 articles
written for the public. The online library provides understandable information
about estate and financial planning, while also directing those in need of
guidance to our online directory of Accredited Estate Planner® and Estate
Planning Law Specialist designees. Please take a look today and do feel free to
share the web address with your clients and friends!
Finally, our 47th Annual Conference is just months away and I hope you are
planning to attend. The outstanding speaker line up is a must-see, our social
event at Marine Corps Air Station Miramar is a must-do and the companion program
is excellent! The
full
registration brochure is now available—register today!
Respectfully,

Accredited Estate Planner® Designation Information
The end of summer is here. Vacations are ending, schools are starting back,
leaves will soon change colors (for some of you), estate planning councils are
resuming meetings, and life returns to a somewhat normal pace. The AEP®
Committee has not, however, taken a vacation. Applications are coming in for
processing from personal applicants, council nominations and coursework
completion. Also, thanks to all of the active designees who promptly responded
to your notice of compliance audit. This process enhances the image that our
designation has substantiation to the educational and experiential components.
As a result of our volunteer appeal in the NAEPC News and AEP Alert, we have
added two new members to the designation committee. These voices are important
as the NAEPC board strives to listen to its designees and provide the resources,
tools, and information that are important for use in their practices of estate
planning.
In addition to providing access to educational webinars, promotional
materials and brochures, and exclusive referral opportunities through the "Find
An Estate Planner" search engine on the NAEPC website and now on the public
education website,
www.estateplanninganswers.org, NAEPC is committed to provide "The Technical
Corner" in each publication of the AEP Alert, again adding value to the
designation. This technically oriented part of the newsletter will contain a
brief article, written by an active designee, to assist other designees and add
value to their practices.
If you are not an AEP® and want to become one, you can obtain the designation
qualifications and application form from the website at
http://www.naepc.org/aep_application.web or by calling the national office.
We ask that you provide your contact information so we can follow up with you
during your application process.
Finally, we want to congratulate the following newly designated Accredited
Estate Planner® designees, and we look forward to seeing you all at the national
conference in San Diego:

Estate Planning Law Specialist Designation Information
The Estate Planning Law Specialist (EPLS) designation is available to attorneys and is administered by the Estate Law Specialist Board, Inc., an attorney-run subsidiary of the National Association of Estate Planners & Councils. Attorneys who become board-certified under this program demonstrate a high level of professionalism and commitment to the concept of specialization. This program is currently the only program, other than certain state bar association programs which are only for residents of their particular states, accredited by the American Bar Association to Board-certify attorneys as Estate Planning Law Specialists.
