Message from the President
Joseph
V. Falanga, CPA, AEP®, TEP
FTI Consulting
Dear Colleagues,
National Estate Planning Awareness Week is upon us. Please join forces with
NAEPC and The NAEPC Education Foundation during this critically important week
to promote the need for estate planning by a qualified team of advisors to the
general public. Read on for more information about the many events planned, from
the kick-off webinar with Jonathan G. Blattmachr on Wednesday, October 12th, to
the many consumer webinars planned the week of October 17th. We are grateful for
the support of many individuals and organizations that have helped to design and
promote National Estate Planning Awareness Week 2011: honorary co-chairs Sidney
Kess and Andrea Millar; Synergy Summit organizations (www.synergypro.org);
AICPA PFP Section; Martin M. Shenkman and RV4theCause (www.rv4thecause.org);
as well as the time, talent and dedication of the boards and committees of NAEPC
and The NAEPC Education Foundation.
As fast as National Estate Planning Awareness Week will come and go, the
annual conference will be here too! I hope you are planning on attending our
48th annual event. The conference provides so much more than continuing
education and credit - networking, an opportunity to meet and share ideas, as
well as a first-hand look at San Antonio and the River Walk.
Read more below.
I'm thrilled to report that NAEPC has taken a leap forward with our social
media presence. With the addition of a Facebook fan page for The NAEPC Education
Foundation /
www.EstatePlanningAnswers.org, we are taking great strides toward reaching
the public with our message on a daily basis. I would like to offer my personal
thanks to Laura Malone, NAEPC volunteer, for her efforts on this project. In the
weeks ahead you'll see many changes to the NAEPC presence on LinkedIn as well -
a sub-group has been created for council leaders, the general group has been
opened up to all members of affiliated local councils, and we'll be working to
offer value through weekly posts.
Finally, this is my last message as president of NAEPC. It has been an
exceptional year of growth for both NAEPC and The NAEPC Education Foundation,
for which I am proud. I appreciate the effort of every board and committee
volunteer, and congratulate Clark McCleary as he takes the reigns of these
organizations on December 1, 2011. It's no secret that the world of estate
planning has changed dramatically recently, I believe NAEPC and The NAEPC
Education Foundation have adapted to these changes and will flourish in the
years ahead.

Accredited Estate Planner® Designation Information
Gregory
E. Sellers, CPA, AEP®
Wilson Price
Montgomery, AL
As this issue of NAEPC News is released, we will be on the doorsteps
of the 48th Annual Conference in San Antonio Texas. At this conference, a
special session will be held only for AEP® designees on "Marketing your
Accredited Estate Planner® Designation with Style". Nationally-acclaimed
practice growth speaker Jeffrey S. Pawlow will teach participants how to
leverage their designation to clients, prospective clients and referring
professionals.
During October, our AEP® designees will be benefitting from national media
exposure for National Estate Planning Awareness Week. The NAEPC Education
Foundation is promoting estate planning during National Estate Planning
Awareness Week, as are numerous other professional organizations, with public
service announcements, articles and webinars. The second in our series of public
promotion articles on estate planning has been released and again, links from
the hundreds of media outlets direct readers to the NAEPC Education Foundation's
www.EstatePlanningAnswers.org
website, and professional references to the EXCLUSIVE database of AEP®'s.
"How can I reap the benefit of this exposure?" you might ask. Join the
following recently-awarded designees and over 1,500 more AEP®'s that have
separated themselves from general practitioners in their discipline by applying
for the designation today. Go to
http://www.naepc.org/estate_planners.web to download the qualifications and
application for the designation.
I hope to see you in San Antonio.
We congratulate those new AEP® designees and celebrate with them their
accomplishment:
